🎐 XC Scribbles 152 - ✨The Power to Stop
The most impressive thing about a person is not how capable they are, but whether they can stop at any moment.
The world is always moving.
Emotions move;
Desires move;
Attention moves;
Identities move.
If you simply follow the current, you will be carried along by it.
Even laziness is a kind of movement. Addiction is a kind of movement. Sudden fame is certainly a kind of movement.
We tend to think laziness is stillness, but it isn’t. It’s just sliding downward along inertia.
Someone at the peak of success suddenly walks away. Someone who used to exhaust themselves for others decides one day to stop.
Reputation pushes you. Expectations pull you. Identity frames you.
What truly remarkable people can do is different. At the moment of greatest momentum, they can change direction. At any time, they can step away.
That act of stopping is not avoidance. It is the deliberate breaking of inertia. It is sovereignty over rhythm. It is focus.
Movement is easy, because it follows inertia. Stopping is difficult, because it requires resisting it. And resisting inertia requires clarity.
Perhaps true strength is not the ability to keep burning forever, but the ability to extinguish the flame whenever you choose.
